Music has always been important to him. As a child, he would listen to artists like Paul Simon, Randy Newman, The Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, and James Taylor on his Walkman, unknowingly learning harmony, song structure, and lyricism from his mother’s cassette collection. By age 15, when he picked up an acoustic guitar, these skills came naturally to him.
